QCell SL SL Receives Award for Affordable and Quality Communication Services in Sierra Leone

QCell SL has received an award from the Consumer Protection Agency Sierra Leone in recognition of its quality and affordable communication services to citizens.

The award ceremony took place at the QCell SL office located at 26A Kingharman Road in Freetown, bringing together management staff, agency officials, and members of the media.

Welcoming guests at the event, Head of Marketing and Product Lead, Edward Nelson Pratt of QCell SL, said the gathering was not only to witness the award but also to share ideas and learn from the agency’s insights. He added that those present at the event included CEO Jayamani Kathick, Head of network operations Emmanuel Williams, and Head of Sales, Mama Conteh, along with staff from sales and other departments.

Speaking on behalf of the agency, Daniel K. Fengai, Head of Public Relations and consultant, said the award was given after careful review and public feedback. He described QCell SL as the Best Telecommunication Company for 2025, especially for its affordable internet and strong customer service.

He praised the company for offering internet services that many citizens can afford. He noted that getting 2MBPS for 60 Leones is rare in Sierra Leone and said QCell SL has made this possible for many people.

“Despite challenges and criticism, QCell SL continues to go the extra mile to ensure affordability for citizens,” he said.

He also highlighted the company’s growth across the country, with over 450 cell sites and expansion into remote areas such as Kailahun, Bonthe, Port Loko, and Kambia. According to him, this shows QCell SL’s commitment to connecting communities.

The agency also commended QCell SL for its fairness in service delivery, noting that the company allows customers to fully use their subscriptions before renewal. This, he said, shows integrity and respect for users.

Beyond business, QCell SL was praised for its humanitarian efforts, including support during Ramadan, contributions during COVID-19, and assistance after the Wellington disaster.

In his response, QCell SL CEO Mr. Jayamani Kathick thanked the agency for the recognition. He said the award reflects the company’s belief that communication is not a luxury but a basic need.

“As digital transformation continues, Sierra Leone must not be left behind. Our goal is to provide affordable services that support both individuals and businesses,” he said.

He added that QCell SL remains committed to expanding its services across all 16 districts and making communication accessible to everyone.

Mama Conteh, Head of Sales, thanked the agency, noting that the recognition serves as motivation for the team to do more. “QCell SL is here to stay. What QCell SL stands for is for all Sierra Leoneans to enjoy communication at an affordable price,” she added.

The event ended with a call for stronger partnership between QCell SL and the Consumer Protection Agency to support national development and improve service delivery across the country.
