President Julius Maada Bio has sworn in a judicial tribunal to investigate allegations against High Court judge Justice Allan Halloway, State House has announced.
The tribunal was formally constituted following recommendations from the Judicial and Legal Service Commission, in line with the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone.
Justice Halloway has been suspended from duty pending the outcome of the investigation. The allegations against him have not been made public, but officials say the process is aimed at upholding integrity and accountability within the judiciary.
At the swearing-in ceremony, President Bio said the tribunal’s work is important for maintaining public trust in the justice system. He urged members of the panel to carry out their responsibilities fairly, independently, and without fear or favour.
The tribunal is expected to examine the matters referred to it and submit its findings to the President, who will then act in accordance with constitutional provisions.
Authorities say the move reflects government commitment to the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary, while ensuring that concerns involving judicial officers are properly addressed.
