During the engagement, the President stressed the importance of improved service delivery and competitive pricing in the telecommunications industry. He noted that access to reliable and affordable communication services is critical for citizens, businesses, and national development.
President Bio also reassured the Orange leadership of the government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for private sector investment. He said the government remains focused on policies that support business growth while ensuring that consumers benefit from quality services at fair prices.
The President encouraged the new Chief Executive Officer, Madam Aicha Toure, to build on the progress made by her predecessor and continue working closely with regulators and government institutions to improve network coverage and customer experience across the country.
Orange Sierra Leone plays a key role in the country’s digital economy, providing mobile voice, data, and financial services to millions of users. The company is also involved in various corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Officials familiar with the meeting said discussions also touched on the broader role of telecommunications in supporting innovation, job creation, and economic inclusion. The government has repeatedly highlighted the importance of strong partnerships between the public and private sectors in driving national development.
The leadership transition at Orange comes at a time when demand for digital services continues to grow in Sierra Leone, with increased focus on connectivity, mobile money, and digital transformation.
