President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Babadi Kamara, has left Freetown for Rabat, Morocco, to attend the AFCON 2026 final and take part in important meetings with African football leaders.
The AFCON final, which will be played between Senegal and host nation Morocco, is one of the biggest events on the African football calendar. President Kamara’s presence at the final places Sierra Leone among the many nations represented at the highest level of the game on the continent.
Beyond watching the final, the trip carries deeper importance for Sierra Leonean football. President Kamara has an event to attend on 16 January 2026, at which she will be in a high-level meeting with the President of CAF. In this event, she will get to meet the presidents of every football association in Africa at a meeting to discuss matters related to football.
These discussions are expected to focus on football development, support for member associations, youth and grassroots programmes, and ways to improve competitions and governance across the continent. It was such a meeting that gave Sierra Leone an opportunity to raise its voice, share its challenges, and seek stronger cooperation with CAF and other football nations.
President Kamara’s attendance represents an effort by the SLFA to ensure Sierra Leone continues to be actively involved in continental football affairs both on and off the pitch. The trip underpins a growing feeling that progress in football comes through dialogue, partnership, and presence at key forums.
