On the European Union Bus Tour in Kambia, Sierra Leonean influencer Hamza Koroma met a young man whose work is inspiring many. His name is Mohamed Saviour Samu.
Mohamed studied in Italy and Spain through the Erasmus+ scholarship. After completing his studies, he made the choice to return home to Sierra Leone with a vision to help his community.
He founded a company called EntoTech. The company uses the Black Soldier Fly, a special insect, to turn food waste into two key products. One is organic fertilizer for farmers, and the other is protein feed for animals and fish.
This innovation means less waste in communities, lower costs for farmers, new jobs for young people, and a cleaner environment.
Mohamed has already built a large production centre in Kambia. His work has been recognised with the Presidential Innovation Award, and he is now expanding his operations to Freetown.
Hamza Koroma said Mohamed’s story shows how education can change lives. “This is proof that education can change lives – not only for one person but for the whole country,” he said.
He also encouraged young people to apply for Erasmus+, describing the scholarship as a chance to gain skills abroad and return to help build Sierra Leone.
