Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, founder of Luawa Football Club and Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), held a high-level meeting with Niels Erik Søndergaard of Esbjerg fB, a second-division football club based in Denmark.
During the meeting, Dr. Abdulai delivered a 23-minute presentation tracing the growth and milestones of Luawa Football Club. He highlighted the club’s remarkable journey through Sierra Leone’s football divisions—currently boasting a presence in division two, division one, and the premier league. He also shared the expansive network of Luawa’s eight branch academies spread across the country, emphasizing the club’s role in grassroots talent development.
Describing the session as “love at first sight for our collaborative vision,” Abdulai expressed optimism about a fruitful partnership that could see knowledge exchange, talent development, and possible pathways for Sierra Leonean players to gain international exposure through Esbjerg fB.
The meeting ended on a positive note, with both parties acknowledging a shared commitment to advancing football through innovation, structure, and cross-cultural exchange.
