The new Sierra Leonean passport design, featuring a chimpanzee holding a branch, has sparked a wave of mixed reactions. While some applaud the new design for its creativity and eye-catching appeal, others have criticized it for its negative implications.

It features a chimpanzee holding a branch in the forest, with an outline of other designs in the background. Though the design has been hailed by many, some have criticized it for its negative connotations. Critics have argued that the design reinforces the idea of humans being superior to animals, which is a concept that most people find outdated.

They also point out that chimpanzees are endangered species, and that the government should not be promoting their exploitation. Some also stressed that many Sierra Leoneans will face rapid racist slurs from around the world. 

Regardless of the criticism, the new design has been praised by other parties for its creativity and eyecatching appeal.

Festus is also the Africa Focal Point of Youth for Change Initiative, which is a platform through which young people can access resources, be empowered and given the opportunity to grow to become useful members of society who will participate in the development of their communities and nation. Along with another Africa Youth platform, Festus has Co-Founded the Future of Africa initiative which is an advocate forum with the aim to bring together local and international socio-economic stakeholders to support innovative programs aimed at advancing the radical and practical progress of adoption awareness-vulnerable children and youth and youth leadership-through interlinking local, regional and international resources and opportunities.
