New Leones Replace Old Notes: BSL Deadline Nears

The Bank of Sierra Leone (BSL) has officially declared that starting from April 1st, 2024, commercial banks will no longer accept old Leone notes for exchange with the newly redenominated currency known as the New Leone ¹. This decision aligns with a prior press release issued by the BSL on December 30th, 2023.

However, there’s no need to worry! You can still exchange your old Leone notes for New Leones at the following locations:

1. Bank of Sierra Leone offices in Freetown and Kenema.
2. Apex Bank (SL) Limited.
3. All community banks.
