A group of musicians led by popular artist Empress P has paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion (ICPNC), Hawa Sally Samai.

The visit was made on behalf of the newly appointed Peace Ambassador, Abubakarr S. Turay, widely known as Shady Baby. The team expressed appreciation for the opportunity to engage with the Commission and conveyed greetings from the Peace Ambassador.

The meeting was part of early discussions aimed at building cooperation between the creative industry and ICPNC to promote peace and national unity across Sierra Leone.

Welcoming the delegation, Hawa Sally Samai praised the initiative and stressed the importance of working with voices from the entertainment industry. She said musicians and creatives have strong influence, especially among young people, who are key in peacebuilding efforts.

She added that the upcoming Peace Day celebration and the Commission’s 5th anniversary provide an important opportunity to strengthen public awareness on peace and cohesion.

“The Commission is looking forward to working closely with the new Peace Ambassador and your team. Your influence among young people is significant, and it is important that this influence is used to promote unity and positive messaging,” she said.

She further noted that strong partnerships with stakeholders across all sectors will help sustain peace and harmony in the country.

Speaking on behalf of the Peace Ambassador, Empress P expressed excitement about the appointment and the chance to support national peace efforts.

She said the team is committed to working with ICPNC and aligning with its priorities to ensure effective peace messaging.

“We are truly excited about this opportunity. We see it as a serious responsibility, and we are ready to work with the Commission to promote peace across Sierra Leone,” she said.

Empress P also noted that although the Peace Ambassador role is not financially rewarding, its value lies in influence, responsibility, and impact within the youth and entertainment space.

She assured the Commission that the team will study the ICPNC strategic plan and align their activities with its goals.

The visit ended on a positive note, with both sides expressing optimism about a strong partnership to promote peace, unity, and national cohesion in Sierra Leone.
