The Miss Sierra Leone Beauty Pageant, formed in 1986, is a national competition that has consistently selected the official winner to represent Sierra Leone at Miss World. Organized under the Miss Sierra Leone Ltd., the pageant enjoys sponsorship from the government of Sierra Leone in Freetown, showcasing its significance in promoting beauty, talent, and the intelligence of Sierra Leonean women.

Throughout its history, the Miss Sierra Leone pageant has crowned some remarkable women, each leaving their mark on the international stage. In 1986, Alice Matta Fefegula became the first Miss World contestant to represent Sierra Leone, laying the foundation for future generations. In 1990, Sia Matturi not only claimed the title but also went on to win the Miss Africa 1990 pageant in Banjul, The Gambia, earning international recognition for Sierra Leone.

After a brief hiatus between 1991 and 2006, the Miss Sierra Leone Limited underwent a renaissance in 2001, continuing its mission to empower women and foster positive role models for the country’s young women.

The pageant received tremendous acclaim for organizing spectacular events in 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2019, each crowned a deserving titleholder – Miss Margeret Murray, Miss Aminata Bangura, Miss Sarah Laura Tucker, and the reigning Miss Enid Jones-Boston.

The Miss Sierra Leone Limited is not just about crowning a queen; it is a not-for-profit organization with a core objective of selecting a beauty queen who will embody strength, beauty, and intelligence. The winner will serve as a role model, inspiring young women in the country to become responsible and respectable citizens. The organization has been applauded for supporting its winners in their charitable work, enabling them to make a positive impact on their communities.

The 2023 edition of the Miss Sierra Leone Beauty Pageant promises to be a thrilling affair, attracting contestants from all districts, vying for the title of Miss Sierra Leone. The competition will be a rigorous process, involving various stages to select the most deserving candidate to represent the nation at the Miss World pageant.

Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Miss Sierra Leone Limited remains committed to creating a platform that celebrates the essence of womanhood and empowers young women to reach new heights.

As the pageant unfolds in the coming months, the nation will eagerly watch to see who will follow in the footsteps of courageous and talented women like Enid Jones-Boston and take Sierra Leone’s beauty and grace to the global stage once again.
