Sierra Leone’s Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, is in Melbourne to lead the country’s delegation at the Women Deliver Conference 2026, a major global gathering focused on advancing gender equality and improving the wellbeing of women and girls.

At the conference, Bah is serving as a speaker and Co-Chair of the Global Programme to End Child Marriage. He is contributing to discussions on how to scale up and finance efforts aimed at ending child marriage worldwide.

During his intervention, the minister reaffirmed the commitment of President Julius Maada Bio to end child marriage within this generation. He highlighted the need for strong policy reforms, sustained investment in education, effective law enforcement, and collective action to address the issue.

Bah is also taking part in high-level sessions focused on ending violence against women and girls. His engagements include participation in the closing plenary and a series of bilateral and strategic meetings with international partners.

Sierra Leone’s presence at the conference reflects the government’s continued efforts to promote the rights of women and girls, end harmful practices such as child marriage, and achieve measurable progress in gender equality.
