Sierra Leone’s Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernoh Bah, has called on the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) and other media institutions to fully embrace the growing influence of bloggers, digital creators, and online media platforms. He made this appeal during the 2025 Presidential Media Cocktail, where he spoke about the changing nature of information sharing and the need for stronger collaboration across all branches of the media.

Minister Bah said the world of communication has changed greatly in the past decade, with new media becoming a major source of information for many people, especially young audiences. According to him, bloggers, digital influencers, and online content creators are now helping to shape public conversation in ways that traditional media alone can no longer control.

He noted that whether mainstream journalists accept this reality or not, bloggers and other digital creators have become an important part of the country’s information ecosystem. He stressed that these new actors are influencing how stories are told, how citizens access information, and how national issues are discussed on a daily basis.
