Bobby Bell, an 74–year–old Pro Football Hall–of–Famer, has inspired people all over the world with his remarkable story of commitment and determination.
After dropping out of the University of Minnesota in 1959 to pursue his professional football career, Bell returned 52 years later to fulfill the promise he made to his father and finally receive his bachelor‘s degree.
Bell recounted his experience of trying to stay focused on his studies while also learning how to use new technologies, like Power Point presentations and online courses, to complete his degree. Bell’s success is an inspiring reminder of the power of perseverance, allowing him to achieve his aspirations at age 74 and inspiring people everywhere.
In a letter to his graduating class, Bell described his experiences. He explained that although he had achieved success in Super Bowl and Football, one thing was always missing: his college diploma. He said that when he was declared for the 1963 AFL draft, he was 17 credits shy of completing his degree. “Football happened, and life happened, and I never went back,” he narrated.
