Ahead of their upcoming match against the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Sierra Leone National Team Head Coach John Keister has expressed optimism and hope for his team.
Despite facing challenges, Keister drew reference to his playing days as a Leone Stars player when they faced a star-studded Nigerian team and managed to achieve a good result. He acknowledged that the Nigerian team is strong, but his players will represent Sierra Leone with pride.
Keister also thanked the SLFAās Secretariat for their support in early preparation for the match. The team, mostly comprised of home-based players, will begin training at the Southern Arena in Bo city.
The match against Nigeria on June 18 in Liberia is crucial for Sierra Leone’s chances of progressing to the finals in Ivory Coast next year, and a win is needed to keep their dreams alive. Leone Stars will play their final match in Group A against Guinea Bissau away.
