Lawyers representing Sierra Leonean musician Alhaji Amadu Bah, widely known as LAJ, and Ibrahim Koroma have raised concerns over how criminal summons were issued against their clients.

In a letter dated 27 March 2026 and addressed to the Bo High Court, the legal team from Madieu Sesay & Associates said their clients were not properly served with any official court documents before proceedings began.

According to the lawyers, both men only became aware of the case through information circulating on social media, rather than through lawful notification.

The legal representatives also rejected claims that the summons were served via WhatsApp. They argued that such a method is not recognised under Sierra Leone’s Criminal Procedure Act 2024, which requires personal service of court documents.

They further stated that their clients are residents of Freetown and fall outside the jurisdiction of the Bo Magistrate Court. As a result, they said any legal documents should have been served through the appropriate court in Freetown.

The lawyers described the alleged service of summons through WhatsApp as invalid and without legal effect. They warned that any court proceedings based on such service could be considered a nullity.

They have now called on court authorities to address the issue urgently and ensure that proper legal procedures are followed before any further steps are taken in the case.

The matter is linked to a case involving Thomas Baio, which is currently before the court.
