Laura Nicol has officially stepped into her new role as the Senior Programmes Assistant at the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Sierra Leone. This short-term contract marks a significant advancement in her commitment to addressing migration challenges and promoting sustainable development within the region.
The IOM, recognized as the leading intergovernmental organization in migration, plays a pivotal role in shaping migration policy and practice worldwide. It emphasizes that humane and orderly migration not only benefits migrants but also enriches society as a whole.
In her new position, Nicol will be responsible for a variety of critical tasks, including programme and project management, robust legal research, and performing technical, financial, and administrative functions. Additionally, she will engage with stakeholders and formulate capacity-building workshops aimed at enhancing local capabilities.
Nicol expressed her enthusiasm for joining the IOM team, stating, “I am super excited to be part of the team and eager to make a real impact and contribute to our collective international development mission.” She also extended her gratitude to her new colleagues and supporters who have aided her journey thus far.
