Kids Advocacy Network, one of the leading civil society organizations for children and young people in Sierra Leone is all set to Organize the Eighth Annual National Girls Empowerment Forum, on the 10th to 14th October 2023 at the 50/50 Conference Center in Freetown.
According to the Executive Director of Kids Advocacy Network, Edmond Alim B Fornah, the 8th National Girls Empowerment Forum is an educative and interactive platform that aims at bringing together teenage girls all over the country and from different backgrounds and provide them the opportunity to be informed and motivated by exemplary young and adult women who have excelled in their various careers in life, especially those from a humble backgrounds, despite the various challenges they faced in their journey through life.
Fornah disclosed that part of the agenda, they will lecture participants on Leadership and Self Confidence, Self Esteem, Public Speaking Ethics, entrepreneurship, finance management, How to overcome negative peer pressure and stress, the danger of procrastination, sex and contraceptive, Modeling and table ethics etc.
He also, disclosed that the event will also be entertaining as there will be a football gala between girls of Kroo Bay Community and participants of the 8 girls Empowerment Forum, and they will also organize Rep your district cultural festival etc.
The 8th NaGEF participants will also discuss burning issues affecting the welfare and development of girls and also proffer recommendations which are to be presented to the government on how they can be tackled.
The forum will also bring government officials, non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, teachers, principals of schools, and private sector players, among others, together to sign their commitment in to protect the rights of girls in the country.
Mr. Fornah said the objective of the forum is to work towards empowering girls and build their self-confidence to break the chain of violence and abuse against them.
