The Judiciary of Sierra Leone has announced the dates for the 2026 Easter vacation, informing the public about changes in court sittings during the holiday period.

According to the notice, the Easter vacation will affect the High Court, while arrangements have been made to ensure that urgent matters can still be handled during the break. The Judiciary said vacation judges will be assigned to sit during the period to deal with important cases.

The announcement also stated that court registries will remain open to provide essential services, even though normal court sessions will be reduced during the vacation. This measure is intended to allow court staff to observe the Easter holiday while maintaining access to justice for the public.

Officials explained that the Easter vacation is part of the regular judicial calendar and happens every year in line with the court schedule. The break usually takes place around the Easter season, which is one of the major Christian holidays observed in Sierra Leone.

The Judiciary advised lawyers, court users, and members of the public to take note of the dates and plan their legal matters accordingly.

Authorities also assured that magistrate courts and other essential judicial services will continue to operate where necessary to avoid delays in the justice system.
