Isha Johansen, former President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), and Fatima Samoura, FIFA Secretary General, have been invited as special guests at the 2023 London Fashion Week. This prestigious event will be attended by top personalities from around the world to celebrate the world of fashion and glamour.
Johansen’s work with women and young girls at the Sierra Leone Women’s Correctional Centre, using the power of football and fashion to bring about social change and rehabilitation, has gained international recognition. Institutions such as FIFA, CAF, and Brussels Airlines have shown their support by donating sewing machines and building a tailoring workshop. Both Samoura and Johansen have made personal financial contributions to the foundation.
The two women have been strong supporters and funders of the Sierra Leone Women’s Correctional Centre Rehabilitation Foundation. Samoura has pledged to work with Johansen’s foundation and committee to help the young girls and women find a new direction in life through football programs offered by FIFA and CAF, as well as tailoring and arts training provided by local fashion designers.
Renowned fashion designers, including Jenneh Amara Bangali of SWANK COUTURE, Pa Musa of PA MUSA DESIGNS, Hannah Foullah of SHEPOR, and Fredrica of J&F Designs, have been invited to showcase their designs at the London Fashion Week in support of FASHION FOR CHANGE.
The invitation to attend the London Fashion Week is a significant milestone for the Sierra Leone Fashion Industry, which has unexpectedly found itself on one of the biggest global fashion platforms. This achievement reflects Johansen’s dedication to embracing humanity and raising the game in various fields.
The event will also be attended by FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura, Lina Infantino, Precious Motsepe, and other international personalities on September 16th this year.
