JOB INTRODUCTION.

We have an exciting opportunity for a confident Director of HR (supervisor) to join our global team.

We require a dynamic manager with extensive experience, a highly developed understanding of corporate governance, business management and development, payroll administration, adequate knowledge of local labourlaws and excellent management skills to lead our HR & Admin Operations department.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the post holder leads the People and OrganisationalDevelopment teams within AYV Group HR.

The Director of HR (supervisor) is responsible for the design and delivery of HR strategy, policy, processes and initiatives to support individuals and teams to drive AYV strategy, whilst delivering an excellent employee experience.

Responsible for Organisational Development teams work on: talent acquisition including recruitment, employer brand and outreach; the AYV Academy, for staff training, leadership development, coaching, mentoring and apprenticeships; performance management; talent and succession; career development and culture and values.

This is a senior management position and the post holder is responsible for the effective functioning of AYV’s operations, administrative affairs and human resources. This includes overseeing HR , admin operations, private and government relationships, staffing and other aspects that may be required for the day-to-day operation of the company and to support the activities of other departments.

The Director of HR (supervisor) will also be responsible for office and staff security, health and safety, and will work with other departments to ensure our activities are carried out in line with AYV’s  health and safety protocols.

In addition, this post holder will be responsible for overseeing co-operation between AYV and the relevant authorities across the world and ensuring best practice in the AYV’s compliance with local regulations.

MAIN DUTIES.

Provide leadership of the HR & Admin Operations Department in the operations of the company

Supervise a team of HR and administrative staff

Take a holistic view and work across all other departments of the AYV in Sierra Leone and across the world to ensure they get the necessary logistic, technical and HR support needed to effectively carry out their work.

Oversee the security of the office, staff and property and ensure our activities are carried out in line with AYV’s health and safety protocols, including risk assessments for all travel.

Take responsibility for overseeing the maintenance of office vehicles, equipment and property, and for ensuring appropriate health and safety gadgets are in place in the office.

Advise and support other senior staff to manage risk related to all aspects of our work.

Supervise the HR team to ensure that staff recruitments comply with AYV policies, local regulations, and that proper HR records and paperwork are kept on file.

Ensure that our agreements with suppliers and contractors are compliant with local regulations and AYV standards, meet the needs of our work, and provide good value for money.

Build and maintain relationships with relevant government bodies in line with local requirements and AYV standards and protocols.

Support professional development of all staff, including strengthening capacity, building skills and delegating authority to support professional growth.

Participate actively in AYV global  senior management team and encourage maximum collaboration across all departments to help ensure our work in Sierra Leone and across Africa achieves its intended impact.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCED.

Proven extensive experience managing and motivating large teams of HR and Admin Operations in a high-pressure work environment to achieve strategic objectives.

Minimum of ten years experience leading and supervising staff Operations and Admin in a corporate or in a related environment.

Excellent negotiating and influencing skills, with demonstrated experience of negotiating contracts and resolving issues with external suppliers and partners.

Proven extensive experience overseeing the deployment of staff for assignments across Africa and globally, with a particular focus on safety scenario planning, risk assessments, and other measures intended to mitigate risks in the field.

Thorough knowledge of local laws, commercial, media, labour and safety legislation.

Proven work experience helping use media to achieve development goals, and a strong knowledge of local and international businesses.

Demonstrable ability to handle pressure, meet tight deadlines; to prioritise work and to confidently delegate authority; to manage several projects at the same time.

Proven experience in communicating effectively with people at all levels and from different backgrounds.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• BSc degree in Human Resources or an equivalent degree.  A Master’s  Degree will be an added advantage.
