21-year-old James Samba, a Sierra Leonean innovator has won the 5th year of the Orange Social Venture Prize (OSVP) Competition held at the Limkokwing University Campus taking home le100,000
Individuals from Sierra Leone where open to participate in the 2023 edition of OSVP in which Orange (SL).
James Same built Sierra Leone first ever revolutionary hybrid rechargeable electric car that can operate without fuel/solar. It has a self-powered generating system that powers its operation. It is also incorporated with the functions of providing energy that could power an entire house without fuel, solar, or battery.
During an interview with Salone Messenger about winning the award, James Samba said “Winning this award is an incredible feeling! It’s a validation of all the hard work, dedication, and vision for Sierra Electric. It’s an honor to be recognized for the efforts to bring clean, sustainable, and accessible transportation to Sierra Leone and make a positive impact on our community and environment.”
James Samba looks forward to add more feature to his innovation “Our next plans are to take Sierra Electric to the next level. With the prize money and recognition from OSVP, we aim to scale up our operations, expand our retrofitting services, and launch BYKA version 2 with even more innovative features. We also want to explore partnerships to increase our reach and impact, and ultimately contribute to a greener and more sustainable future for our nation.” He told Salone Messenger
