The High Commissioner of India to Sierra Leone has met with Dr. Emmanuel A.R. Gaima, Principal Executive Advisor to President Julius Maada Bio and Head of the Public Sector Reform Unit, to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.

According to information shared by the Indian High Commission, the meeting focused on improving collaboration in public sector reforms and supporting development projects in Sierra Leone. Both sides also discussed the progress of Line of Credit (LOC) and grant projects being implemented with support from the Government of India.

During the discussion, the two officials talked about the importance of capacity building for public workers in Sierra Leone. They highlighted opportunities available through the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) scholarships, which provide training and educational support for Sierra Leoneans.

The High Commissioner said India remains committed to supporting Sierra Leone’s development through partnership, training, and technical assistance, especially in areas that will improve government services and public sector performance.

Dr. Gaima welcomed the continued support from India and noted that cooperation in public sector reform and human resource development is important for strengthening government institutions and improving service delivery in the country.

India and Sierra Leone have maintained strong diplomatic relations over the years, with both countries working together in education, infrastructure, health, and capacity building programmes.

Officials say the latest meeting reflects ongoing efforts to deepen cooperation and promote development through mutual partnership.
