A crucial dialogue meeting has been held on Monday 19th June 2023 at the Bintumani Conference Hall in Freetown, co-hosted by the independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion, and the Political Parties Regulation Commission.
The gathering aimed to facilitate discussions between the leadership of the All People’s Congress (APC) and key stakeholders, following the expiration of a 72-hour ultimatum issued by the APC.
Representatives from the APC, including Hon Chernor Bah, the presidential running candidate, Secretary General Lansana Dumbuya, and Mayoral candidate Yvonne Aki Sawyer, were present at the meeting. Notably, the event also drew the participation of the Chair of the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL), civil society representatives, and members of the diplomatic community.
The dialogue meeting comes on the heels of the APC’s demand for the resignation of the ECSL chairman and commissioners within a 72-hour timeframe.
This demand, coupled with growing concerns over electoral integrity, prompted the need for urgent discussions to address the underlying issues and find a way forward
