Arimah Davida Catherine Sylviana Akosua Bangura was born in 1998, Amirah spent the early parts of her life in The Gambia where Amirah started school immediately after her 1st birthday giving her an edge over most pupils. Arimah furthered her education when she relocated back to Sierra Leone 2001.
Arimah was born and raised in Christian home where each child is raised in the confines of the Christian domain, making sure they have good manners and etiquette, study hard to make good grades, and keep their faith in check
Arimah quoted that ‘’My parents and I have a very cordial relationship as they are my earthly supervisors installed by God to guide my steps and they are both lucrative and allow me to explore every one of my talents’’ she said.
Arimah Davida Catherine Sylviana Akosua Bangura got inspired to start her own business after her friend gave her paintbrushes and watercolor. According to her, her business started like a joke
‘’I always say my business started as an expensive joke that spread like wildfire in just a week and now it has been segmented into 8 different parts. With the encompassing name The_Arimah, I had this done because my generation yet unborn must be a benefactor to the legacy I would have left behind eventually, everyone leaves this earth and when I leave my name shall still live (in Jesus name). I had nothing but a pack of paintbrushes and watercolor paints given to me by FAITH TINDAE KAMANDA, a friend of mine who is also an artist –using this gift I did a video on snap chat and posted on my Facebook storyline and it caught the attention of many people and they urged me to take it up as a business but I second-guessed it, so I fell in without thinking using the watercolor powdered paints and brushes and took off with it and today we are here. ‘’
Arimah’s business has now been expanded into 8 segments which consists of;
-face painting for kids party and other events
-body art and maternity paintings
-selling paintings in and out of Sierra Leone
-Balloon Arts for birthdays and photoshoot sessions
-customized name cutouts
-cinematography- the evolution of pre-wedding, birthday congratulatory messages, and obituaries or immemorial with poetic, cinematic motions
-stencils for offices, bedrooms, and any industrial place.
-building canvas for paintings
Arimah Davida Catherine Sylviana Akosua Bangura tells us at Salone Messenger more about her business and how she balance between her school work and business.
‘’At the start, I didn’t have any fear or doubt because I did what I loved and I enjoyed it and I still am enjoying doing that.
I have a normal schedule like any young adult though I hardly go out, or find parties interesting because I like my own space and my room is my best place to escape, even with business going on I still have time for family functions and friends.
School and work is not a good concoction but I have been strict with myself from the very start, I made a pact with myself in my 2nd year before I started – if I failed or didn’t go to the honors class I was going to shut The Arimah down. Yet I persevered and got excellent grades and made it into Honors 1 and I couldn’t be more grateful to God
I can’t afford to mix business with my academics because artistic people are mostly thought of as dropouts so I am determined to gain my academic recognition as well as my artistic side.
My bubbly personality draws clients to me and my customer service tendencies are top-notch as I can be able to persuade them to reason with me and still keep them happy. Who wouldn’t want to work with an energetic and fun-loving human, hence the reason I never let the mishaps of my day after my mood at work.
My brain is powerful and there is the citadel of my strength, if you can access my thoughts then you’ll probably make a lot of money within a year.
I believe that the originality and authenticity of my work stand out as I hate repetition and repetition kills. The thought of giving my future babies a better life and giving back to my parents who sacrifice everything they have to get me through the best system of education gives me the utmost zeal to press on and be consistent.
My purpose of opening a business was mainly to be independent, having several streams of income before graduating, and also to change the perspective of Sierra Leoneans through colors and that has always been my core postulate till now.
So I depend heavily on social media platforms to interact with clients.’’
