There is perhaps no figure in our modern world that is nearly as inspirational as Meghan Markle. Seriously, we mean that! She’s a (sorta literal) princess story: from her (not-so) humble beginnings as an actress, she just so happened to fall in love with Prince Charming and join the Royal Family. We don’t fault you if that’s the kind of thing you’ve fantasized about ever since you were little. Still, with all the press on her new, royal life, we sometimes forget about what her life was like before that. Luckily, the Internet never forgets. No matter how thoroughly you cleanse your Instagram….

Is there anything that screams “embarrassing Instagram photo that needs to be deleted” more than a good old fashioned dog filter selfie? In our opinion, definitely not. You shouldn’t be ashamed of rocking the dog ears, but it’s not exactly the most professional (or, uh, royal) look around. It’s more fake-Insta material.

Did finstas even exist back when Meghan was on Instagram? We’re not sure, but if they did, we definitely need to find hers. For science. Still, we have to admit that she looks cute in this one.

Meghan was nothing if not a trend-setter back in the day. There’s a few things to digest in this photo, so let’s go through them. First of all is the #NOBADENERGY on the ground. It’s a nice message, but really, these days we would definitely go with #GOODVIBESONLY.

Second of all are those shoes…we can’t decide if they are a major fashion no-no or just kitschy cute. Perhaps both? Finally, the filter and the overall composition of the photo definitely both feel like relics of Instagram’s past.

Okay, forget the last picture, this Instagram post has to be the most normal-seeming one. I mean, come on, who doesn’t know at least one person that has taken a pic like this come fall? We can just imagine Meghan lighting a few candles in the house, putting on her favorite sweater, carving a pumpkin, watching some scary movies…okay, maybe we’re getting a little creepy with the speculating.

The Royal Family has pretty strict rules about public relations and how involved with the media they can be, and that means that Instagram is definitely off-limits. So, we sadly can’t expect any more selfies like this from Meghan. Still, we can appreciate her beauty from her old pics.

Lots of people have copied Beyonce’s famous “hot sauce in my bag, swag” line by carrying around hot sauce with them in designer purses, and it seems Meghan hopped on the trend back in the day. Though she quickly admitted she didn’t have any swag, we beg to differ!

Meghan really invited us into her life with her Instagram, and it got to the point where her fans really felt like they had a bond with her before she had to delete it. This photo is a great example. It feels like we’re just sitting in bed with her, having a sleepover and watching a hilarious movie.

Whether it was on The Tig, her Instagram or any of her other social media pages, we were sitting at home, wishing we were there too. I mean, just look at this one. To call it a tropical paradise definitely feels fitting.

Drinks, sun, the beach, and a nice, little place to sit and just chill out. Meghan probably doesn’t have as much time for travelling these days, if we had to guess.

The Queen of the Selfie returns in this one. Feet up, splayed over two separate fuzzy chairs, and with a knit sweater and some Uggs on, Meghan definitely looks like she’s in chill mode. While we definitely miss her Instagram, there’s something great about looking back on these photos and thinking about how much her life has changed. But we also know that, deep down, she’s still the same gal.
