Sierra Leone’s former fastest track and field athlete, Maggie Barrie, has officially married her husband Zack Polk on September 2, 2023.
After bidding farewell to the tracks in February 2022, Barrie made the decision to move forward with her life. The American-based athlete, who held records in both the 200m and 400m events, was surpassed by young Sierra Leonean athlete Fatmata Awolo. Awolo now holds the title for the fastest female sprinter in Sierra Leone, with a record-breaking time of 11.34 seconds, surpassing Barrie’s previous record.
