On Thursday, December 21st, 2023, a devastating fire broke out in Massosingbi village, Simiria Chiefdom, Tonkolili District, Sierra Leone, leaving ten family members homeless1. The fire started while the residents were sleeping and quickly spread, burning down properties worth millions in local currency1. Sorie Foday Bangura, the head of the family, reported that all personal belongings, fiscal cash, rice, ground, and zinc were burnt. Since the incident, the family has been sleeping outside as all of the houses and properties have been burnt down, including their clothes.
The family is now in dire need of assistance. They are unable to afford their children’s education since the incident occurred and are calling on humanitarians, Tonkolili District Council, the government of Sierra Leone, and other humanitarian institutions to help them in their current crisis
