Eric Selassie Kawa is a Multilingual journalist based in Freetown, Sierra Leone with a B.A in Mass Communication from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone. He serves as a Correspondent for Africanews and works with Capital Radio, Sierra Leone. He is also the Owner/Producer of ‘Weekly Splash’ and ‘120 Seconds Countdown with Eric,’ both programs are youth focused.
As a correspondent for Africanews and a contributor to Capital Radio Sierra Leone, China Global Television Network (CGTN), and The Voice of America (VOA), Kawa has established a reputation for incisive reporting. His experience includes working with various media outlets such as Star Radio/TV and serving as a fixer for BBC Africa and CGTN. He has also contributed to international news channels including BBC Afrique, Joy News, GH One TV, Starr FM, TV3 in Ghana, and WADR (French/English Service) in Senegal. In addition to his journalistic endeavors, Kawa is the Business Development Representative for Afripods’ Broadcast to Podcast in Sierra Leone.

He owns and produces ‘Weekly Splash’ and ‘120 Seconds Countdown with Eric,’ both programs are youth focused and edu-taining. Eric is also a Voice Over Artist and a Blogger/Vlogger and Event Host/Moderator.
Recognized for his influence and contributions, Kawa has been named one of Sierra Leone’s ‘100 Most Influential Youths’ by Sierra Youth Magazine through the Ministry of Youth for 2018/19 and was honored by ‘Salone Times’ as one of the ‘10 Most Influential Sierra Leoneans’ in 2023.
