The European Union’s Bus Tour 2025 has reached Kambia, where Ambassador Jacek Jankowski and the Team Europe delegation were warmly received by local authorities and residents.
Ambassador Jankowski said he was “deeply moved” by the stories shared by Sierra Leoneans about how EU development programmes are improving lives. He noted that EU support to local councils is helping communities in Kambia access social services such as clean water, health and education.
The EU Bus Tour, launched in Freetown on 29 September, is visiting Kambia, Tonkolili, Kono and Kenema districts. The five-day journey aims to highlight the impact of the partnership between Team Europe and Sierra Leone at community level.
Journalists, influencers and partners from the Irish Embassy and other European missions are travelling with the delegation. Their goal is to document how EU-funded projects are making a difference in local communities.
In Kambia, local leaders told the delegation that EU support has strengthened councils’ ability to deliver essential services. Residents also gave testimonies about how projects in their communities have brought visible improvements.
The tour will continue until 3 October, with further visits planned to health, education and governance initiatives in the provinces.
Ambassador Jankowski said the reception in Kambia was a reminder of the value of the partnership: “The impact of these programmes is real and visible in the lives of Sierra Leoneans.”
