EPA-SL Contributes to ECOWAS Avian Influenza Workshop

Representing the Environment Protection Agency (EPA-SL), Mary Sia Foyah recently took part in an ECOWAS regional workshop focused on highly pathogenic avian influenza in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The workshop aimed to address the contingency plans of Member States in combating influenza and emphasized the importance of revising and validating the ECOWAS One Health Strategy and Governance Manual of the Regional One Health Coordination Mechanism.

During the workshop, experts from various fields collaborated to ensure that the documents are robust, comprehensive, and suitable for adoption by the #ECOWAS Ministers responsible for animal, human, and environmental health. The focus on utilizing a one-health approach reflected the current epidemiological situation and highlighted the need for a coordinated effort to combat avian influenza effectively.
