Chief Executive Officer of Luawa FC, Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, has reflected on eleven years of running the Luawa FC Academy, describing it as a journey that has transformed the lives of hundreds of young people across the country.

In a statement, Dr Abdulai said the academy, which he founded eleven years ago, now provides life skills, discipline and opportunity to boys aged 10 to 17 in several parts of Sierra Leone, including Kailahun, Kenema, Makeni and four branches in Freetown.

According to him, more than 970 boys are currently benefiting from the academy’s seven-year programme, which combines football training with discipline, personal development and support for staying in formal education.

Dr Abdulai said the initiative focuses on reaching young people from vulnerable backgrounds, including homes, streets and slum communities, with the aim of providing structure, confidence and brighter futures.

“Today we bring life, hope and opportunity to young people,” he said, adding that the academy’s work goes beyond football by helping participants build character and long-term goals.

He described the academy as one of his greatest achievements, saying it gives him deep satisfaction to see young lives positively changed through sport and education.

Dr Abdulai also called on the public to support, share and follow the academy’s work, noting that increased backing would help the organisation reach even more young people across Sierra Leone.
