The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has expressed its gratitude to the authorities of Sierra Leone for allowing former President Ernest Bai Koroma to travel abroad for medical reasons.
ECOWAS has pledged to provide unwavering support to the government and citizens of Sierra Leone, and to stand by the nation’s endeavors to promote peace, security, democracy, and good governance. President Bio clarified that the decision to allow the former President to travel for specialized medical reasons was driven by humanitarian considerations.
It is important to note that Koroma had faced charges related to his alleged involvement in the failed attempted coup on November 26th. The move to permit his medical travel was underscored as a humanitarian gesture, emphasizing the importance of addressing health concerns above political considerations.
