Sierra Leone’s leading human rights defender and democracy advocate, Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, has paid a visit to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Timothy Musa Kabba, where both leaders discussed key political issues, including succession and regional leadership.
In a post shared online, Dr Abdulai described the meeting as relaxed and friendly, marked by politics, laughter, and open discussion. He said their conversation focused on succession planning and the idea of building a strong Eastern Region political alliance.
According to him, both leaders agreed on the importance of partnership in diversity and shared views on the growing call for leadership from the Eastern Region within the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP).
Dr Abdulai noted that the demand for Eastern Region leadership is not just political ambition but a call for justice and fairness within the party and the country’s democratic process.
The meeting comes at a time when internal discussions are increasing within political circles ahead of future leadership transitions. Analysts say such engagements reflect ongoing consultations among senior figures as parties prepare for the next phase of political organisation.
Neither official announced any formal decisions following the meeting, but the discussion has sparked interest among party supporters and observers, particularly in the Eastern Region, where calls for inclusion and representation continue to grow.
