The Chief Executive Officer of Premier League side Luawa Football Club, Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai Esq, has expressed thanks and appreciation to the residents of Kailahun for their support to the Club.
During his visit in Kailahun, he met with various community leaders, including Paramount Chief Dr. Sama Banya, the Bike Riders Union, and Central Ataya Bases.
He thanked them for their support towards Luawa FC during last season’s engagement and apologized for not coming earlier to explain why the team had stopped playing in Kailahun.
He told them that the Sierra Leone Football Association had taken unilateral decision, barring clubs from playing in dusty, stony fields. Dr. Abdulai described the decision as unfair to a district that is already facing many challenges.
He promised to do everything in his power to bring back their beloved Luawa Football Club.
He shared the good news that President Bio has appointed him to lead the National Sports Authority. He expressed his gratitude to President Bio and pledged to work towards developing sports in Sierra Leone. He emphasized the importance of keeping young people engaged in positive activities to prevent them from turning to drugs and crime, urging them to avoid substances like Kush and tramadol as they can be destructive.
At the gathering, various speakers expressed their appreciation for Emmanuel’s efforts towards supporting the development of Kailahun, creating opportunities for young people, and providing access to Premier League matches.
Mohamed Bockarie, the Chair of the Ataya Bases, praised Dr. Abdulai for his commitment to development and youth empowerment, contrasting him with other leaders who only show up when seeking political support. He reassured Emmanuel of their support in his efforts to uplift the youth and drive progress in the district.
