Dr. Idris Lahai Says First Lady Never Attended Convent School
Dr. Idris Lahai has published a long Facebook post in which he claims that First Lady Mrs. Fatima Bio did not attend St. Joseph Convent School, contrary to what he says is a widely held public belief.
According to Dr. Lahai, his team carried out what he described as an investigation into school records at Convent School, reviewing documents dating back to 1991, the year Sierra Leone’s civil war began. He said the Catholic mission runs a dual record system, with official records kept at the Church headquarters and separate files kept in the principal’s office.
Dr. Lahai alleged that while the central Church records were intact, documents kept in the school office had been tampered with over the years. He further claimed that some students were admitted through corrupt “back door” arrangements and that their names were recorded on hidden lists not known to the Catholic mission authorities.
Based on his review of the records, Dr. Lahai stated that Mrs. Fatima Bio’s name does not appear in any Convent School register from 1991 to the present. He said he personally searched through all available records and is convinced that she never attended the school.
He also relied on what he called “personal evidence.” Dr. Lahai said the First Lady was known within her family by childhood nicknames such as “Baby Yo,” “Small,” and “Mummy.” He argued that only people who truly grew up with her would know these names. According to him, people who associate her with Convent School do not know these details, which he believes weakens the claim that she studied there.
Dr. Lahai further said he interviewed relatives of the man who raised Mrs. Bio, whom he described as her guardian uncle. He claimed these family members insist that she never attended Convent School and that they would have known if she had, since they lived in the same household. He added that some of them were deeply upset and accused the First Lady of abandoning their guardian in his old age. These are allegations made by the relatives and have not been independently verified.
In his post, Dr. Lahai claimed that Mrs. Bio attended Koidu Girls High School in Kono for her secondary education. He also stated that for her primary education, she attended Amsarul Islamic Girls School in Koidu, not Convent School.
He went further to allege that the First Lady is “not proud” of her actual school background and has chosen to present Convent School as her alma mater instead. This claim remains his personal opinion and has not been supported by official records made public.
As of now, the First Lady has not publicly responded to Dr. Lahai’s claims, and no official statement has been issued by St. Joseph Convent School or the Catholic mission regarding the allegations about record tampering.

Dr. Lahai ended his post by saying he stands firmly by his findings and is willing to be challenged. His statements have sparked strong reactions online, with supporters and critics debating the issue, while others have called for caution and respect for verified facts.
It is important to note that these claims are Dr. Lahai’s assertions and have not been independently confirmed.
