Dr Adonis Abboud has called on Sierra Leoneans to put aside division and work together for a better future as the country marks its 65th Independence Anniversary.
In a message shared on April 27, 2026, Dr Abboud said Sierra Leone has gone through many difficult years since independence, including civil conflict, disease outbreaks, coups, corruption and frequent power cuts.
He said the country has now reached a point where citizens must change their attitude and come together in the interest of national development.
According to him, Sierra Leoneans should unite under one flag and one national identity to move the country to a new level of peace and prosperity.
Dr Abboud said the future of Sierra Leone depends on the willingness of its people to look beyond past struggles and focus on building a stronger nation for the next generation.
His message comes as many Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad are celebrating the country’s independence with renewed calls for unity, progress and hope for a better tomorrow.
