The Co-Founder of Salone Messenger, Sierra Leone’s leading online platform profiling young people and covering current affairs, has safely arrived in New Delhi, India, for a 10-day familiarization tour for content creators from West and Central Africa.
Sallu Kamuskay is accompanied by four other top content creators from Sierra Leone. The initiative is organized and funded by the High Commission of India in Sierra Leone in collaboration with the Indian Ministry of External Affairs. The program aims to strengthen people-to-people ties and promote India’s cultural diplomacy across Africa.
Sallu Kamuskay during an interview said “ I am excited to be in India and looking forward to documentary and share incredible stories of the country, I am grateful to the India high commission making this happen and we look forward to more of these collaborations”
The delegation also includes content creators from Benin, Cameroon, Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, DR Congo, Ghana, Liberia, Namibia, Nigeria, São Tomé, South Africa, and Togo. The tour, running from May 21 to May 29, includes visits to iconic monuments and cultural landmarks across India.
Neeraj K. Saini, Head of Chancery at the Indian High Commission in Sierra Leone, praised the professionalism of Sierra Leone’s digital media space, stating, “The popularity and professionalism of Sierra Leonean social media content creators is commendable. They are doing great work in raising awareness on various important issues.”
The India Familiarization Tour is a strategic effort to enhance cultural ties and foster deeper connections between India and African nations. Participants are expected to share their experiences through digital platforms, bridging cultures and amplifying the India-Africa narrative through storytelling and visual engagement.
This initiative marks another significant step in India’s commitment to building global friendships and empowering African voices in the international digital space.
The content creators will document their journey through blogs, vlogs, and social media updates, offering their audiences unique insights into India’s rich cultural heritage. Their participation underscores the growing role of digital creators as cultural ambassadors in global diplomacy and exchange.
