Sierra Leone’s Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, visited his paternal hometown, Bonthe Island during the festive season. The visit began with an enthusiastic reception at mainland Mattru Jong, symbolizing his deep-rooted connection to the region where his father was born. This heartfelt visit followed a similar trip to his maternal hometown in Bo, showcasing Bah’s commitment to his roots and the people of Sierra Leone.

Bah’s delegation, inclusive of Deputy Ministers of Finance and Agriculture, Members of Parliament, former Vice President Victor Bockarie Foh, government officials, family, and friends, represented a diverse spectrum of the nation. Amidst the celebratory atmosphere, accolades poured in, praising Bah’s grounded nature and tireless dedication. Deputy Minister ‘2’ of Finance, Bockarie Kalokoh, hailed Bah’s appointment as a testament to the inclusive nature of the government. Dr. Theresa Dick, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, commended Bah’s information management during critical times and expressed pride in his Bonthe heritage, acknowledging the district’s history of producing exceptional leaders.

The Minister’s reception on Bonthe Island mirrored a vibrant festival, characterized by exuberant crowds, traditional drumming, and a spirited march to the council hall, demonstrating profound affection and unity. Addressing the gathering, Minister Chernor Bah commended the island’s progress in infrastructure development, especially lauding projects like the Bo-Mattru Road, Yargoi jetty, and Senehun-crossing Point Bridge as integral to President Bio’s legacy. He pledged close oversight of these initiatives and vowed continued support for their prompt completion. Additionally, Bah reiterated his commitment to launching development programs, distributing the President’s Christmas packages, and promising the President’s future visit when feasible.
