Harmony Travel and Tourism Investment Services (HATTIS) has called on Sierra Leoneans across the country to come out in large numbers to welcome participants of the Budapest-Bamako Rally, which is expected to arrive in Sierra Leone in February and March 2026.
In a press release, HATTIS said the rally will enter the country through the northern region and pass through several towns and chiefdoms before reaching Freetown, which will serve as the final destination for this year’s event.
The organisation especially appealed to Paramount Chiefs and residents of areas along the rally route, including Gbalamuya, Kambia, Barmoi Luma, Port Loko, Gbere Junction, Maishaka, Burred, and other surrounding communities, to give the visitors a warm and peaceful reception.
According to HATTIS, the return of the Budapest-Bamako Rally to Sierra Leone is a major boost for tourism and international visibility, as the rally is one of the world’s largest humanitarian and adventure motor rallies, attracting participants from Europe and other parts of the world.
HATTIS also praised the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs for its efforts in ensuring that Sierra Leone is once again included as an official destination for the 2026 rally after years of absence.
The organisation promised to join citizens in welcoming the rally teams from their point of entry in the north and accompany them all the way to Freetown, where closing activities are expected to take place.
Tourism stakeholders believe the event will help promote Sierra Leone’s culture, hospitality, and natural beauty, while also creating opportunities for local businesses along the route.
The Budapest-Bamako Rally combines adventure with charity work, with participants often engaging in community support projects in countries they pass through.
Residents have been encouraged to maintain peace and show the true spirit of Sierra Leonean hospitality as the country prepares to host the international rally once again.
