Sierra Leonean singer Boii has shared a heartfelt reflection on the artists who shaped her musical journey, speaking with Truth Media in an exclusive interview after releasing her new EP, Money or Honey. The project, produced under Cribs International, features a rich blend of African influences and collaborations with international artists.

Fresh off the excitement of releasing her first EP, Boii spoke candidly about the musicians who have really fueled her passion since childhood. With an easy smile, she explained that her artistry didn’t emerge in isolation but was built on years of listening, learning, and admiring those who came before her.

“People like Drizilik — I have been following him since I was growing up… and Tiwa Savage is one of my biggest inspirations,” she said, describing the two artists as guiding lights throughout her evolution as a performer.

This is evident in her admiration for Drizilik, one of Sierra Leone’s most influential contemporary voices. She spoke about watching his rise with pride, noting that his creativity and consistency urged her to take her own craft seriously. Then again, she drew inspiration from Tiwa Savage, whose success on the global scene and commanding presence showed her the potential of crossing borders through music.

Her new EP entitled Money or Honey was also discussed in the interview, an eight-track project recorded across Sierra Leone, Nigeria, and Morocco. The body of work features collaborations with celebrated names like Boy Pee, Ramoni, and the renowned Masterkraft, who produced most of the songs. Boii explained that the EP carries fragments of her life, emotions, and aspirations, making it the most personal project she has ever released.

The discussion given by Truth Media let the fans have a glimpse of the intentionality behind her sound: a mix of African rhythm, soft vocals, and honest storytelling. True to her character, she expressed her gratitude to the producers, DJs, and bloggers who continue to support her music journey.

As Boii steps into this new phase of her career with Money or Honey, her words drive home the point that every rising artiste soars on the shoulders of their forebears. For her, those shoulders belong to Drizilik and Tiwa Savage-two artists whose influence can quietly be felt in the confidence and creativity she now brings into the African music scene. The EP Money or Honey is currently streaming on all major platforms, with its emotional depth and refreshing sound being lauded by fans.
