Fezile Dhlamini, born and raised in Soweto, is a renowned South African engineer and entrepreneur. He is the visionary founder behind Green Scooters, Africa’s first all-electric e-hailing network, and Scooter Treats, an online food delivery business.
Dhlamini’s passion lies at the intersection of urban transportation and renewable energy, making Green Scooters a pioneer in the field. His company designs and manufactures a unique line of electric scooters suitable for both commuting and freight purposes.
One of their notable creations is the Zbee, a three-wheeled electric vehicle catering to individuals seeking affordable electric cars for short to medium-distance travel. It also serves as a convenient last-mile transportation solution for regular commuters. Accommodating a driver and two passengers, the Zbee offers a comfortable and eco-friendly ride.
In addition to passenger transportation, Green Scooters also developed the Zbee Cargo model. This variation replaces passenger seats with a secure cargo area, ideal for short-distance deliveries. With a range of over 100km on a full charge, these scooters can be recharged in approximately three-and-a-half hours.
Dhlamini’s commitment to transforming the transportation industry into an eco-friendly sector stems from personal experiences. After facing multiple rejections from Uber for employment opportunities, he was inspired to create Green Scooters as an alternative solution.
Since its establishment in 2018, Green Scooters has successfully sold or leased 60 vehicles, with demand steadily increasing due to rising gasoline costs. Dhlamini’s motto, “nullum magnum ingenium sine mixtura dementiae fuit,” reflects his belief in the power of innovation and determination to make a difference in the world.
Fezile Dhlamini’s remarkable journey as an engineer and entrepreneur showcases his dedication to sustainable transportation and his unwavering commitment to creating a greener future for South Africa.
