A Sierra Leonean-Liberian artist known as Alonzo Teah Abasi but fondly known as Alonzo among his followers, has been set free after drug trafficking charges were dropped against him. According to reports, it has been verified that authorities have finished examining charges against incumbent artist Alonzo Teah Abasi, involving an incident that took place in August 2025. Alonzo’s representatives explained that the decision affirms what he had maintained from the outset. They said he cooperated fully with investigators and trusted that the process would eventually clear his name. The outcome, they noted, restores not only his legal standing but also his reputation as an artist who has built his career across Sierra Leone and Liberia without controversy.

He was arrested on 7 August 2025 at the Bo Waterside border by the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency, which at the time accused him of attempting to transport 844 grams of Methcathinone hidden inside a vehicle door. The agency described the case as the country’s first suspected attempt to move the synthetic stimulant into Liberia, a claim that amplified public interest and intensified debate across the entertainment community.

The investigation ran for four months. With the charges now dismissed, Alonzo’s supporters see the ruling as a moment of relief after a long wait. Many have expressed hope that he can return to the studio and resume his work without the weight of suspicion that had followed him since his arrest.

For Alonzo, the conclusion marks a return to normal life and a chance to focus on music rather than courtrooms. His team says he is grateful to everyone who stood by him during the ordeal and looks forward to reconnecting with his audience as he moves beyond a chapter that tested both his patience and his resolve.
