Korovy Val Moscow, Russia – His Excellency Ambassador Bumidien Gennad of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria on Wednesday 27th December 2023, paid a courtesy call on Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Russia H.E. Mohamed Yongawo.
H.E. Bumidien wasted no time in conveying fraternal greetings from His Excellency President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Government and People of Algeria to His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio, and the Government and People of Sierra Leone.
Ambassador Bumidien expressed pleasure to have been able to visit his colleague and brother and hoped for continued cordial relations between the two friendly countries, which have spanned decades.
The friendly visit is against the backdrop of Sierra Leone and Algeria soon to take their places to represent Africa at the UN Security Council in the Non-permanent membership category.
Thus, the two diplomats reaffirmed the desire for their countries to deepen collaboration at the bilateral and multilateral levels. They also agreed to liaise on issues relating to African-Russian relations; particularly those issues that may be in the interest of their two nations.
His Excellency Ambassador Mohamed Yongawo whilst expressing gratitude for his colleague’s visit, told him that he felt privileged and honoured that the visit is taking place during the end-of-year festive season, which is a busy time for diplomats.
H.E. Yongawo briefly informed his colleague about President Bio’s five priority areas and wished for Algeria’s support in their realization.
