In Sierra Leone, electricity is one of our biggest challenges. For many of us living in Freetown and other parts of the country, blackouts from the national power supply—EDSA—are a part of everyday life. Sometimes the lights come on for just a few hours, and other times, we go days in total darkness. This is not just a small inconvenience; it’s something that affects students, workers, businesses, and families.

As someone who works online every single day, I’ve felt this problem deeply. My name is Sallu Kamuskay. I am a freelance journalist, media relations strategist, social media manager, and digital marketer based in Freetown. Most of my work depends on electricity. I write stories, run social media campaigns, manage accounts for top brands and public figures, host virtual meetings, and connect with people across the world—all from my home. That means I need constant power for my laptop, phone, and Wi-Fi router.

But like many Sierra Leoneans, I was struggling with the frequent blackouts. I’ve had virtual meetings canceled because of sudden power cuts. I’ve stayed up late trying to meet deadlines, only for my laptop to die because there was no electricity. It was frustrating, stressful, and slowing down my progress.

Finding Hope with Solar Energy

That’s when I made one of the best decisions in my life—I went solar with KemySolar.

Thanks to KemySolar, I now have a 1.5 KVA solar panel and battery system installed at my home. Since then, my life and work have completely changed. I no longer worry about when EDSA will bring the lights. My devices stay charged. My internet stays on. And I work without fear of interruptions. Whether it’s a Zoom call or uploading a campaign for a client, my power is now stable and reliable.

It’s either switch to solar or stick with stress. I chose peace of mind.

Why I Chose KemySolar

There are many solar companies in Sierra Leone, but KemySolar stood out to me for three big reasons:

  1. Affordability
KemySolar understands the reality of life in Sierra Leone. They offer flexible payment options that make it easier for people to go solar. You pay 50% up front, and then choose to complete the payment over three, six, or nine months.

  2. Professionalism
From consultation to installation, the KemySolar team was polite, patient, and clear. They answered all my questions, assessed my energy needs, and gave me a custom solution that works perfectly for my home.

  3. Quality Service and Equipment
KemySolar uses strong, modern solar panels made in China, with a 25-year warranty. They also introduced Li-ion Battery Powerwalls to Sierra Leone—strong, safe, and long-lasting.

The Bigger Picture: Why Sierra Leone Needs Solar

Solar energy is not just about comfort—it’s about development. In a country where electricity is unreliable, solar power offers a better way forward. Students can read at night. Businesses can stay open. Offices can run smoothly. And people like me who work online can stay connected without the daily stress of blackouts.

Solar is clean, quiet, and independent. It gives power back to the people. And it helps us reduce the use of noisy generators that cost money and pollute the environment.

A Stronger, Brighter Sierra Leone

I truly believe that more people in Sierra Leone should consider switching to solar. Whether you’re in Freetown, Bo, Makeni, Kenema, or even in the rural areas, solar is a smart and long-term investment. You don’t have to be rich to get it—KemySolar makes it possible for everyone.

Whether it’s for your home, office, business place, school, university, or farm, KemySolar is the company to trust. They are working hard to bring sustainable energy to every corner of Sierra Leone.
