The Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA) Technical Department Medical Team has marked International Hygiene Day on 5 May 2026 by promoting proper handwashing and hygiene practices at the Freetown Port.

The exercise involved washing and sanitizing the hands of staff and visitors entering the port. The aim was to help prevent the spread of diseases and maintain a safe and healthy working environment.

The activity also highlighted the important role nurses play in protecting public health. The medical team used the moment to reaffirm its commitment to continuous care, awareness, and quality service delivery within the port community.

The initiative forms part of SLPHA’s ongoing efforts to support staff welfare and uphold high public health standards.
