The Sierra Leone Immigration Department has completed training for 120 newly recruited officers as part of efforts to strengthen border security and improve public service delivery.

The induction programme, which ended on 25 April 2026, was held at the Civil Service Training College in Freetown. The training was conducted in two batches and focused on equipping recruits with practical skills for border management and national security operations.

Chief Immigration Officer, Dr Moses Tiffa Baio, welcomed the new officers and stressed the need for discipline, professionalism and dedication. He described the opportunity as important for their career growth and reminded them that promotions within the department are based on merit.

He also warned against corruption and urged the recruits to maintain high standards and integrity while serving the country.

Officials say the new officers are joining at a critical time and are expected to contribute to improving the department’s performance.

The training also introduced key systems and policies, including performance evaluation measures and the department’s 2026–2030 strategic plan, aimed at improving efficiency and accountability.
