The Government Printer, Salifu Lahai Suma, has explained the details of the transformation the department is going through following its new joint venture agreement with private sector partners from China and Canada.

He said the agreement is a strategic move aimed at unlocking its economic potential and contributing to national development.

He made this statement during the Ministry of Information and Civic Education’s weekly press conference held on Tuesday, 3rd February 2026, at the Bonthe Municipal hall in Bonthe island.

Mr. Suma explained that the Government Printing Department is no longer being viewed only as an administrative institution, but as one with the capacity to generate revenue, create jobs, and attract investment. He noted that the government deliberately sought investors to strengthen the department through innovation and improved efficiency.

He further stated that: “The public-private partnership allows the government to retain majority ownership while benefiting from foreign investment, modern technology, and technical expertise.”
