A marriage disagreement involving a Nigerian couple has caused strong reactions on social media after reports surfaced about how the relationship ended.

According to accounts shared online, the couple had been living together in Australia. The husband later asked his wife to travel with him to Nigeria, telling her that his parents were marking a special family celebration and wanted her to attend.

However, after arriving in Nigeria, things reportedly changed. Sources claim that the man took his wife’s phone and personal documents. He later returned to Australia alone, leaving her behind in Nigeria.

Soon after, members of the man’s family reportedly visited the woman to return her bride price, a traditional step that signals the end of a marriage.

The disagreement is said to be over childbirth. The woman, who married in 2022 and relocated out of the country in 2024, told her husband that she did not want to ‘carry a pregnancy’ herself. She would prefer surrogacy for pregnancy and considers such decisions as her personal choice.

He, on the other hand, is said to have made it clear that he wants a wife who is willing to carry a pregnancy. The husband reportedly told members of the family that if his wife refuses, then the marriage could not continue.
