Mariama Benjie Questioned by CID Over Audio Recordings on Child Paternity Claim

Mariama Benjie is reportedly at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to assist police with investigations linked to circulating audio recordings about the paternity of Rugis’ child.

According to information shared on social media, voice notes have been circulating on WhatsApp in which claims are made about the identity of the child’s father. In the recordings, it is alleged that the father of the child is President Julius Maada Bio. These claims remain unproven and have not been confirmed by any official authority.

Sources say the matter involves two women who were once close friends. Their friendship later broke down after personal misunderstandings. Following the fallout, the WhatsApp voice notes began to surface online, drawing public attention and sparking widespread discussion.

The Sierra Leone Police have not released an official statement confirming the details of the allegations. It is understood that the CID is reviewing the audio recordings as part of a preliminary investigation to establish the facts and determine whether any laws may have been breached.

As of now, no charges have been announced, and no conclusions have been reached. For now, authorities have called for calm and asked people not to spread unverified information while investigations are ongoing.

This again showcased how social media audio recordings were fast becoming a key driver of public discourse, often relating to sensitive personal and political issues.

Police investigations are still going on.
