The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has announced plans to sell three high-value properties linked to unexplained wealth, as part of efforts to recover funds lost to corruption at the National Revenue Authority (NRA).

According to the ACC Commissioner, the properties will be sold either by public auction or private treaty following a court order authorising their disposal. Proceeds from the sale are expected to run into billions of leones and will be returned to the people of Sierra Leone.

One of the properties, described as a seaside ultra-modern home, is a fully furnished three-storey building equipped with advanced electronic security systems, smart home features and a penthouse offering panoramic sea views. The commissioner said the house, along with two others, was identified and seized as part of investigations into unexplained wealth.

The ACC said the reserved price for the properties will be determined after a professional valuation is completed. Interested buyers with legitimate sources of income have been encouraged to prepare ahead of the sale.

“We have a court order to sell these properties as unexplained wealth and return the money to the people of Sierra Leone without delay,” the commissioner said.

The development forms part of the government’s broader anti-corruption drive under Julius Maada Bio, which has focused on asset recovery and accountability in public institutions.

The ACC said the sale of seized assets is aimed at deterring corruption and ensuring that proceeds of unlawful enrichment are recovered for public benefit.

Anti-corruption advocates have welcomed the move, describing it as a strong signal that illicit wealth will not be protected and that recovered assets will be redirected towards national development.
